SYP runs several events over the course of the year. This includes several mini sessions that take place throughout Saskatchewan at local schools and community centres. Helping to allow more youth from around our provinces to get involved and share their voice.
The highlight of the SYP calendar is our annual Session in Regina at the Saskatchewan Legislature. Giving members the unique privilege of debating in the same legislative chamber our MLA’s do.
We will be hosting a Youth Leadership Forum in Saskatoon from September 21-22. With both municipal and provincial elections planned to take place this fall, we are wanting to do our part to help get youth in our province active this election season. Helping to inspire youth to vote, but also look at running one day in the future.
Youth aged 14-21 are welcome to sign up.
There will be on site space available for those coming from out of town and need some wheres to stay for the Saturday night, though members staying over night will need to bring their own sleeping gear. Meals will be provided for Saturday Lunch & Supper and the Sunday Breakfast and Lunch.
Those in attendance will get to meet with political leaders like Minister of Justice, Bronwyn Eyre, MLA Erika Ritchie, and former SYP member and current MLA Ken Cheveldayoff. Further, attendees will get a better understanding of our electoral system, develop their public speaking skills, and learn about what it takes to lead an organization. Giving them skills that will help them in their future.
